What is TableGolf
TableGolf is a new FUN sport and was invented by Ulf-Christian Lesemann.
" I first had the idea in 1998. I had just started playing golf,
and I was thinking about how I could train the golf swing during the
long winter months at home. I was an active table tennis player in highschool.
Therefore I came up with the idea of practicing the golf swing with
a modified table tennis racket with a longer grip, and with a remodeled
ping-pong table. And there was the idea fort TableGolf! "
TableGolf is a new fitness game,
which combines the game elements of different sports such as golf, tennis,
squash and tabletennis.
The game is played on the TableGolf-table, which consists of two parts:
the horizontal table (2.80 m long x 0.80 m wide, 0.30 m high) and the
2 m high vertical RETURN-wall.
The game is played with special TableGolf-bats and TableGolf-balls.
The special TableGolf-bats look like tabletennis-bats, but have a longer
grip.
The TableGolf-ball is made of celluloid and is the size of a golf-ball;
i.e. bigger and heavier than a tabletennis-ball.
The TableGolf-bat is held in both hands (golfgrip) and you swing the
bat against the ball in the same way as a golf-club.
The player hits the ball as if he were chipping in golf or holding the
racket in both hands when playing backhand in tennis.
The TableGolf-players stand on either side of the table and hit the
ball alternately.
The ball must hit the RETURN-wall at a minimum-height (Frontline), and
then bounce back at a minimum length (Shortline).
Matches are scored in a similar way as in tabletennis. A game goes up
to 21 points. The service is changed every 5 points and the players
change sides every 10 points.
When a player has reached 20 points, the putting starts.
The 21st point to win the set can only be reached by putting the ball
in the hole.
The special attraction
of TableGolf: " Change sides "
You recognize the special attraction of TableGolf as soon as you change
sides.
If you previously played using left body-rotation, you now play with
a right body-rotation and vice-versa.
This means that TableGolf is highly balanced body-training; practising
body-rotation in both directions.
This is very good training especially for golfers and tennis-players.
Playing TableGolf will strengthen your muscles and improve your right/left
handed body dynamics as well as your ball-feeling (for hitting the ball).
Playing TableGolf against the Return-wall always puts you in a good
mood: whether playing alone or having a match with your partner.
It is fun to hold the bat in both hands and to hit the ball against
the RETURN-wall.
With TableGolf you train your fitness, body-flexibility and ball-feeling.
It is also a very good additional training for golfers and tennis-players.
